We're excited to join the #becybersmart movement this October and participate in National Cybersecurity Awareness month.  Cybersecurity concerns are on many of our members minds these days due to a barrage of headlines about ransomware, cyber fraud and the elections draw closer.  As a Club Manager or Senior leader of your organization, protecting the reputation of your club and private information about your members from hackers is critical.  The Cybersecurity Awareness Training event we have setup with Luminant Digital Security, the sister company Oregon CMAA Partner, of Convergence Networks, is for Club Managers and their Senior leaders who want to gain a better understanding of the current security risks, attack methods and recommendations to help prevent an incident and avoid a breach at their Club   Luminant developed their training in alignment with the privacy requirements of both PCI and the NIST CSF cybersecurity awareness training guidelines

About the presenter- Kathel Kelton has over (20) years of experience in IT and as a Consultant for the past 10 years, has provided CIO level assistance to a cross section of businesses primarily in the Northwest.  She has assisted Company Executives with IT business development initiatives meant to improve IT cost effectiveness and service quality by completing comprehensive network assessments and detailed guidance. She has authored IT policies, practices, and procedures and has provided security awareness training to staff for numerous Companies.

On a technical level, Kathel has extensive experience and knowledge of hardware and software products including virtualization, wireless and VPN technologies, network maintenance/monitoring tools, and networking appliances.  She has a deep understanding of best practices with respect to security and as a virtual Chief Information Security Officer, is a valued member of the Luminant Digital Security team.
 
Kathel received her B.S. in Management from the 
University of Oregon and has held additional certifications over the years including a MCSE.
